The Department of Culture, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa is going to arrange a stage play on the life of the great Pashto Sufi poet, Khushal Khan Khattak in the last week of January. In this connection a meeting held here the other day with Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Culture and Information Mian Iftikhar Hussein in the chair.

The meeting besides Director Culture Pervez Sahib Khel was also attended by ex-Programme Producer PTV, Masood Ahmad Shah, ex-Programme Producer, Radio Pakistan, Noorul Bashar Naveed and other concerned quarters of the culture department. Director Culture briefed the meeting about the progress made so far on the subject.

The meeting thoroughly discussed various matters related to the play including its script, cost, costume, etc, and made a number of decisions. The provincial minister directed the concerned authorities to expedite work on the play and finalise all preparations before the last week of January 2012 so that it could be staged during the last week of January.

Through the department of culture will project the life style, heroism, thoughts and philosophies of the great personalities and heroes of the land adding that it was the need of the hour to adopt the philosophy of those great personalities to steer the nation through this turbulent period of time.

Addressing the meeting provincial minister said that the teachings and thoughts of such personalities needed to be projected and conveyed to the public and specially the young generation so that they could be trained on proper lines in order to steer the nation out of the troublesome period; and hence the provincial government started to project to make documentary films and prepare theatre plays on the lives of those heroes. It is worth mentioning here that in this connection such a play on the life of great Pashto poet Rehman Baba has already been staged.
